Hunger Prevention

A donation of $100 will feed 170 children for one day. At 59 cents per child per day, every donation, no matter how small will make a huge difference!

Food is a basic human need.  Without it, we cannot survive.  Unfortunately, hunger is a very real and constant truth for many children, families, and communities all over the world.  It is estimated that over 3 million children die each year due to hunger or malnutrition.

Children who go without adequate food often have delayed physical and mental development, are unable to concentrate or focus on school work, and are at an increased risk of serious illness and death.

By partnering with Friends of Love Kibera and the Ngao Foundation we are able to provide food for children in the slums of Nairobi during times they would otherwise go hungry.

With a population of approximately 1 million people, Kibera is the largest slum in Nairobi, Kenya.

Friends of Love Kibera is a community based organization that serves children within the Kibera Mugumoini ward.  They provide a safe place for children to learn and play, a WASH program that promotes health and wellness by teaching the children how to properly wash their hands, and a feeding program.

When children are attending school, they are fed one meal per day.  On weekends and during school breaks, many go hungry.  During these times, Friends of Love Kibera strives to provide food for nearly 200 children.

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”
